New Frontiers Art Department is designed to increase students awareness of the different kinds of art.  It gives students a wide range of experiences and helps them to appreciate art around them.  Some art lessons include painting, drawing, pasting, sculpting, coloring, and folding.

About Mrs. Smith:

I moved to San Antonio in 1999 from a small town in Iowa.  I taught kindergarten in a school in Northside ISD for one year and came to New Frontiers to teach art.  I have taught at NFCS for eight years and have enjoyed every year.  I have been married for nine years and have a four year old son named Carter and a baby girl named Claire.  If anyone wants to see what they look like I have many pictures of them in my classroom.  In my spare time I enjoy drawing and reading.  However, spare time doesn't come easy with a toddler and a baby.

The painting on this page is by one of my favorite artists',  Pablo Picasso.  It is called "Dora Maar Au Chat "and it's one of the most expensive paintings around today worth 95.2 million dollars.
