body.jpgThe 7th grade students have been doing a fantastic job in their ELA/Reading classes. Students already took their writing TAKS test and the scores should be in by May. They will soon be taking the reading TAKS test on April 30th . We are focusing on reading strategies and skills to reinforce their success. Continue to encourage your child and monitor his/her homework. Your support is greatly appreciated!
The seventh graders were fortunate enough to visit the Witte Museum and view the exhibit “Our Bodies – The Universe Within” on February 29th. It was fascinating to view the different human organs and structures and what they actually looked like inside a real person. This was a great opportunity to reinforce the lesson.  Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers and our fantastic administration for helping to make the seventh grade Field Trip a reality!
In Math we are looking forward to using all the exciting new Math strategies learned in TAKS CAMP and in tutoring. Many 7th graders are looking forward to the final two months of exciting Math.  Several students have truly made the connection between everyday Math and Math that can carry them into the future.

Hello,

I am Mrs. Weaver, and I have been given the opportunity to teach eighth grade English/Language Arts. I have a 9 year background in education, both in middle school and on the college level. I am new to San Antonio via the state of Florida. I moved with my husband of 21 years and my two high school aged children. We love San Antonio.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of each of my students. Our focus this school year is to improve our reading and writing skills through many different areas. We will combine literature, poetry, debate, and critical thinking skills to achieve our objectives. The students will have the opportunity to combine technology with the above mentioned skills in an effort to prepare them for high school. Much of our computer time will be dedicated to research on relevant topics we are discussing.

I am always available to address any cares or concerns by either email  at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or telephone 533-3655 ext.3209. Please feel free to contact me at any time, my planning hour is 8:10 a.m.- 8:50 a. m.

I look forward to an exciting school year and the opportunity to collaborate with as many of my students' parents as possible.

Staci Weaver

ramirez.jpgI truely believe that being an educator takes more than just standing in front of a group of students and teach. It is something that comes from the heart with great passion and comprehension of our students individual needs. I have high expectations for all students because they all have the potential to be very successful. My goals in order to help them achieve this success are to:
a. be a well-motivated, encouraging, and consistent instructor for all students providing them with an excellent learning atmophere.
b. help develop in each student high self-esteem and confidence giving them the opportunity to develop academiclly and intellectualy through varied teaching strategies.

ela.jpgWelcome to 6th Grade English Language Arts, or ELA.  In 6th grade, students will work on their listening and speaking skills.  They will work on listening to gain information and take notes, and work on speaking skills to make presentations about what they are reading or writing.  Students will read a variety of stories to learn vocabulary, get information, and be entertained!  Some of the authors we will read, either as a class or as individuals, may include Jerry Spinelli, Virginia Hamilton, Gary Paulsen, and Laurence Yep.  Students will also work on their writing skills to improve their spelling, punctuation, grammar to create pieces such as journal entries, letters, and narratives.

This will be my second year at NFCS and I am looking forward to another great and successful year!

In Grade 6, students master previously learned skills in increasingly complex presentations, reading selections, and written compositions. Sixth grade students take notes during oral presentations and organize and summarize spoken messages. Students evaluate their own oral presentations. Sixth grade students read widely in classic and contemporary selections and informational texts.
