In Kindergarten, students engage in many activities that help them develop their oral language skills and help them begin to read and write. Kindergarten students take part in language activities that extend their vocabulary and conceptual knowledge. Students learn to follow directions and develop the language of schooling. As a recent graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, I am very excited to start my first full year of teaching at New Frontiers Charter School. I am a native San Antonian and grew up right around the corner from our school. My family includes my husband: Darren, my two daughters: Madeleine and Ava, and too many pets to name. I am looking forward to a successful, fun filled year of learning.

I will be starting my second year as a Kindergarten teacher for New Frontiers. My classroom theme is adventure and exploration. The reason for this theme is so that children can begin to approach all subjects in a positive and exciting manner. The hope in doing so is to instill/plant a passion for learning and knowledge and at the same time provide a very strong and rich foundation for all subject areas.

This will be my third year teaching Kindergarten at New Frontiers Charter School. I look forward to a new and fun-filled year! I believe every child is a gift and each child is special and should be valued. All children deserve an education in a learning environment that is nurturing and exciting. I also believe the education of a child is in the hands of both the parent and the teacher. We should support one another to help our children reach their potential.

Mission
Mission The New Frontiers Charter School was founded on the simple convictions
that a first-rate education is the birthright of every individual, that
all children can learn, and that every child should be challenged to
reach his or her full potential
Vision
Vision The School's founders aim to help set the standard and pace for public
school reform in Texas. The School will be a beacon to the
community-proof that, for less resources expended in the city's regular
public schools, every child in San Antonio can be afforded a public
education equal to the very best in the world. Representative of the
city's great diversity, the School's graduates will be prepared to
participate fully in the economy and society of our future.
Curriculum
Curriculum The approach to curriculum at
New
Frontiers
Charter
School
is twofold: a traditional
academically enhanced component and a component that provides for self
development as well as character development of the student.
Environment
EnvironmentThe

Charter
School
provides a learning environment that contributes to student success by
encouraging parents to play an active role in decision-making, character
building, and providing a home environment that encourages academic success. In turn, the school will provide a rigorous curriculum, effective and supportive
teachers, and state-of-the-art materials and technology to ensure that we are on
the cutting edge and that your child receives the greatest benefit.
Intervention
Intervention New Frontiers evaluates every child to determine if they are need of extra help in any given subject on an on going basis to evaluate the need for intervention. Once the need is discovered an action plan will be set in place assist each child to reach his or her objectives.
