The approach to curriculum at New Frontiers Charter School is twofold: a traditional academically enhanced component and a component that provides for self development as well as character development of the student. The basis of the curriculum is as follows:
The Academic Requirements · Grade Level Specific TEKS/TAKS Requirements · Second Language Acquisition · Computer Literacy · Fine Arts Appreciation · Physical Education The Enrichment Component · Character Education · Self-Development Exploration · Service Learning Activities · Project-Based Learning Activities · Parental Involvement Activities
The New Frontiers Charter School provides a learning environment that contributes to student success by encouraging parents to play an active role in decision-making, character building, and providing a home environment that encourages academic success. In turn, the school will provide a rigorous curriculum, effective and supportive teachers, and state-of-the-art materials and technology to ensure that we are on the cutting edge and that your child receives the greatest benefit. This "Partnership in Success" will ensure a well-rounded and successful student who is a lifelong learner and productive citizen.

Fifth grade is pleased to announce that we have travelled through our TAKS path this year taking us by both the Reading and Math tests.
Our journey, however, is not over yet. We still have to prepare for our Science TAKS test coming up May 1.
Our survival strategies have included attending Saturday TAKS Camps, afterschool tutoring sessions, and rotating in our different groups throughout our days at school.
We are building up our brain muscles having to carry so much information around and stopping by to visit with so many amazing teachers and awesome classrooms.
We are hoping that at the end of our journey we can find ourselves relaxing during our end of the year celebration wherever that may take us.

My name is Marsha McDonald.
I was born and raised in Ohio, but have lived in Guam, Alabama, Florida, and Texas.
You guessed it – I’m a former military wife.
I have been teaching for 16 years – 10 of them here at New Frontiers.
I have taught in Ohio, Guam and Texas. Nine of my years here were teaching 4th grade.
I have 3 grown children – 2 girls and 1 boy - and 1 grandchild.
I have lived in San Antonio since 1989.
We made San Antonio our permanent home after my husband retired from the Air Force in 1997.
My hobbies include sewing, crafts, and reading.
Unfortunately, when I am teaching, I have little time to pursue any of my hobbies.
I save that for vacations and summertime.
I do try to make time for playing with my granddaughter Hadley.
