Hello and welcome to a small look inside our classrooms. We run fairly structured classes, with high expectations of all our students. We welcome parent involvement and assistance in the classrooms. There are many opportunities in our classes for a fun and organized education. We are currently using the Open Court Reading Curriculum. It teaches our students phonics and blending to help them become successful readers. It also allows for many cross curriculum activities, which gives students a better understanding of the material.Math is a hands-on learning experience in my class. We use many manipulative and real life objects to grasp the concept of the week. We follow the Sharon Wells Scope and Sequences. It touches all the basic components of mathematics. It also allows students a great start to the problem solving methodology.Science and Social Studies are included in many of the other lessons. We, as a first grade team, come up with creative ways to incorporate cross curriculum activities. We have a well-rounded understanding of the TEKS that are a part of this curriculum. We offer real life experiences, as well as, bringing in outside resources to ensure the success of understanding science and social studies.
Ms. Garcia's Classroom:
I am a part of a wonderful and experienced first grade team. This will be my second year as a first grade teacher. I enjoy working with students and work hard to ensure their success in my classroom. I am highly motivated and love the sound of busy classrooms.
First grade is a wonderful grade to see children blossom. UTSA gave me many opportunities to help my students become very successful. This will be my third year teaching first grade here at New Frontiers.
Ms. Palomino's Classroom:
Teaching is the profession that teaches all other professions. I am fortunate to be able to work with your children and instill what I have learned. In turn they are forever teaching me and I am doubled blessed to be a part of their learning.
