pears.jpgOsirus, Inc. managers believe nutrition education is one of the most important factors in our day-to-day operation. This is the reason we continue to work closely with Educational Service Center, Region 20. It is important to maintain healthy menus, accurate paperwork, and proper nutrition facts for the kids and parents involved in our food service program. Osirus, Inc. has a number one concern- the health and nutrition of the kids.

MENU DEVELOPMENT

The development of the menu is to ensure that it is kid friendly. We want the kids to have a complete and nutritious meal for breakfast and lunch. The unfortunate reality is most kids only eat when they're at school. It's important to Osirus, Inc. to serve food that we know will be consumed instead of thrown away. If there is an entrée that the kids don't eat we will make sure it's not on the menu again.

MENUS

Our menus consist of a variety of fresh fruit, canned fruit, vegetables, entrées, milk, juice, and snacks for sack lunches. A few of the entrées consist of, but are not limited to, pizza, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, crispy tacos, and chicken nuggets. Most of our entrées have a Child Nutrition Label, which is approved by the state and Region 20 to count towards the 5-component meal they get everyday. The fresh and canned fruits include, but are not limited to, diced peaches and pears, fruit cocktail, pineapple, apples, bananas, oranges, watermelon, cantaloupe, and honey dew. Unfortunately some fresh fruits are only in season a few months out of the year, and the kids don't get to eat as much of these as they would like to.

Osirus, Inc. continues to work with our vendors to receive new products with Child Nutrition Labels or Nutrient Analysis Sheets each year that can be approved for new menu changes during the school year.

FEEDBACK

We are always appreciative of any comments or suggestions about the menu, and if it is possible we will do what we can to add or delete items from the menus.
